Yesterday was my long run day, I did 15 miles, it was a beautiful day and a perfect day for running! I decided to run around the block 10 times instead of doing my usual out and back route. My block is 1.5 miles so after 10 laps I had run 15 miles. It was actually really fun! Three of the roads were clear and residential, so I ran on the road, nice and paved and not slippery. The fourth road is Lake Michigan Drive, which is too busy to run on the road! So I had to stick to the sidewalk, hence the title to this blog:) There were about 3 driveways that were plowed, but the plow truck had dumped all of the snow on the sidewalk making a pretty big hill to climb over:) Along with a few areas of unshoveled sidewalks it made for a pretty interesting run! I was having a blast with it until about the 7th and 8th lap, then my legs were getting tired and I had to start crawling up the side of the snow hill and hoisting my legs over the top. I was shuffling through the snow instead of lifting my legs up and hopping through my old tracks - (similar to the drill of running through tires at a football camp). I'm sure it was a pretty interesting sight to see...I was covered from head to toe in snow by the time I was done, but it was definitely fun!
More good news, I have a date set for the run/walkathon - it will be held on April 23rd at Grandville High School! I can't wait, I will start making fliers and having people sign up soon, so I will keep everyone posted on how you can sign up and get involved if you want to. Also, at church this morning I was approached by a couple members who are organizing a Road Rally for April 30th, and they would like to raise money and donate to Of One Heart - so I will find out more about what they are doing but that sounds fun too!
Today is the Superbowl...as all of you know I'm sure! We are at my parents house today to watch it on my dad's new TV, I'm sure it will be fun - I'm looking forward to watching some humorous commercials. I hope you all have a great day and thanks for reading!
